Valley Rovers 1-17                                   Tracton 1-9

Victorious Valley Rovers side, who lifted the Ross Oil South East Junior B Championship today in Belgooy

Valley Rover's ability to take their scores against Tracton in the  Ross Oil South East Junior B Huling Final at Belgooly on Sunday proved decisive.

With Valley Rovers leading this game by 0-15 to 0-9, a late Tracton goal from Edward O’ Callaghan tested the Innishannon outfit’s nerves before a goal from second half substitute Gary Farrell killed off the contest.

Playing with the wind at their backs, Tracton had the Lion share of possession, and a litany of wides in the first half was to prove costly.

Opening the scoring for Tracton fell to Daire O’Riordan, before Man-of-the-match Robert Sean Sweetnam had his side's opening score.

Tracton with the advantage of the wind went on a scoring spree as they hit five consecutive points from Darragh Kidney, Arron Lyons and three from David Griffin as they lead by 0-6 to 0-2 after 19 minutes.

O’Riordan and Sweetnam were keeping Valleys in the game but Tracton only managed to score  three points in the ten-minute period leading up to halftime as Gearoid Kingston, Eoin O’ Donoghue and Griffin all raised white flags

With their noses in front by 0-9 to 0-4 the first half wides were to prove costly.

With the advantage of the strong wind at their back, Valleys took the advantage as they reduced the deficit to 0-9 to 0-8 after 12 minutes as Gary Farrell (2) Luke Casey, Eric Duarte, and Sweetnam all had points.

With Tracton finding it difficult to carve out chances, Eoin O’Donoghue saw his goalward bound shot blocked by Matthew Kelleher in the Valley’s net.

From there to the 53rd minute, Valleys were beginning to pull away as Sweetnam (4), Adam Casey (2) and Farrell had their side out in front 0-15 to 0-9.

Despite a lack of scores in the second half, O’Callaghan’s goal threw a temporary lifeline before Eric Duarte and Sweetnam killed off the contest.
