'School of Rock' Comes to CCS

Get ready to stick it to the man Carrigaline because School of Rock The Musical is coming to a school near you!

The school musical has been a longstanding tradition at Carrigaline Community School and after a few difficult years of postponements and cancellations, we’re delighted to finally be able to bring it back and what a show we have in store for you.

This year our incredibly talented Transition Year students are tackling the movie-turned-Broadway musical, School of Rock. The story follows Dewey Finn, a washed-up musician, trying to achieve his dream of becoming a rock star by impersonating a school teacher and recruiting some talented students for his band. Dewey teaches the well-behaved students of Horace Green prep all about sticking it to the man and finding their inner voice (or, in some cases, their inner rock god).

It's Showtime! CCS Transition Year Students are Ready to Rock!

Since the success of the 2019 TY musical, Mamma Mia, Theatre Studies and Set Design have now been incorporated into the TY timetable and our students have worked tirelessly both in school and late into the evening to make sure they’ll put on a performance you will never forget.

With Broadway originals such as ‘Stick it to the Man’ and ‘Where did the Rock Go’ as well some classic rock hits in the form of, ‘Sweet Child o’ Mine’ and ‘Edge of Seventeen’ and not forgetting the fan favourite, ‘Teacher’s Pet’ from the original film, the show has something to suit everyone’s tastes.

Though our capacity is limited this year due to Covid-19 restrictions, these rockstars will need an audience to cheer them on in their pursuit of the coveted ‘Battle of the Bands’ trophy, while we’ll also run our own raffle as part of the night, with fantastic prizes up for grabs. So get your ticket, dust off your old band t-shirt, and in the infamous words of Dewey Finn, “Just sit back and enjoy the magic of rock!”

The show will be running Wednesday 2nd of February and Thursday 3rd of February from 6-8pm. Tickets are just €10 and are available all week from CCS.
