Na Piarsaigh 0-12
In a fiercely contested Mc Curtain Hurling Cup Final, Passage emerged victorious, defeating Na Piarsaigh with a score of 2-15 to 0-12. The match was played on a warm and sunny day at Ballinlough, in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd of supporters. Both teams fought hard from the outset, with the early stages of the game proving to be frantic and highly physical.
The match showcased the very best of hurling, with both teams displaying tremendous skill, pace, and heart. At the half-time break, Passage held a 6-point lead, thanks to some excellent displays and points from the younger players Luke Hanlon, Dylan Barrett and Evan Clarke. Cian McCarthy also hit 4 long-range frees which gave Passage a bit of breathing space.
After the restart however, Na Piarsaigh refused to give up and fought hard to stay in the game, with some good points to narrow the gap to 4, before Ronan Harrington hit the back of the net with his goal effort. This goal came just a few minutes after Na Piarsaigh missed a great goal opportunity with a show going across the Passage goal line. Tom O’Neill hit 1-01, with his goal catching the Piarsaigh keeper off his line. Further points from Niall McCarthy, Ronan Harrington, Luke Hanlon and two from James Lavery wrapped up a great win for Passage.
The passionate support of the fans added to the electric atmosphere at Ballinlough pitch, and it was a day to remember for all those Passage supporters in attendance. Passage's victory was a testament to their skill, determination, and team play. They displayed great composure and tactical acumen throughout the game, showing why they are considered one of the favourites for this year’s championship.
