Work is due to commence in February on construction of the running track at Carrigaline Community Park, Monday’s meeting of Cork County Council’s Carrigaline Municipal District (MD) was informed.
MD officer Noelle Desmond said four contractors had tendered and it was anticipated the contract would be awarded shortly which would allow for works to commence on site in February. ‘Weather permitting, the programme of works is expected to take 12 to 14 weeks to complete’, she added.
Councillors welcomed this. Asked if the automated public toilet at Owenabue car park could be relocated to the community park at the same time, senior executive officer Nicola Radley said this was a separate body of work to be completed independently of the running track. To a request to extend the ground level solar lights on the Carrigaline-Crosshaven Greenway, she undertook to report back to members on this.
