NUI Graduates asked to back Kinsale Candidate

 (JJ Hurley)

Professor Rónán Collins has made an appeal for graduates from the National Universities of Ireland to support his candidacy in the upcoming election for the NUI Panel for the Seanad Election.

Professor Collins, who is originally from Kinsale and a graduate of UCC, currently works at Tallaght Hospital in Dublin, working in geriatrician and stroke medicine.

Putting forward his candidacy, Professor Collins is standing on a platform of an Age Friendly Future for All.

‘I am committed to protecting the rights of older people, so everyone’s voice is heard as we age, Professor Collins said.

Part of the teaching staff at Trinity University College, Professor Collins believes his experience in the medical world would be an important asset to the floor of the Seanad.

‘I will bring a fresh perspective and expert knowledge with over 30 years’ experience as a doctor and a geriatrician,’ he said.

In addition, Professor Collins believes that keeping people healthy is not just something that is medically related and that we need to acknowledge the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

‘Health is more important than just medicine, through my involvement in sports, the arts and the natural environment, I realise the important role they play in our well-being,’ he said.
