Darragh McGrath, 15, is one of Carrigalines budding entrepreneurs.

He’s a car fanatic. He was reared in the haulage business and naturally, grew fond of all things motors. Mark Twain once said “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life”, and this certainly is true for Darragh who set up his own valeting business, “Kings Valeting” six months ago.

Darragh saved and bought power washer and commercial hoover and set up an account with Tenzi for all of his cleaning materials. Darragh is very mechanically minded and is currently restoring an old VW Golf that he bought out of his confirmation money. All profits he makes goes back into his love for cars.

Not only is he mechanically mind but over the last few months has shown a great eye for business. He created his own business cards and at Christmas he launched vouchers and sold them online.

Darragh just completed his Junior Cert Exams but his mother Linda joked that “I believes he’s studied more for his car and bike theory test than his actual exams”. While he cannot legally drive yet, he is counting down the days until he can get on the road.

For the past few months he has been limited to working weekends and on Wednesdays after school, but as it’s the Summer holidays, he is looking forward to washing, hoovering and valeting cars every day. He is grateful for the support he has received from the Crosshaven and Carrigaline communities and hopes to expand his clientele over the coming weeks.

If you would like to support Darragh and avail of his services including car wash, waxing, vacuum, cleaning and buffing of all surfaces (interior and exterior), window cleaning, tyre shine, removal of tar spots and full exterior polish, you can contact him on 0871810103,
