The Paw Print Bakery Cork, a micro bakery dedicated to providing healthy, homemade treats for dogs, is celebrating its first anniversary this weekend. Located in Carrigaline, the bakery is marking this milestone on February 23rd, coinciding with International Dog Treat Day.
Founded by Lucy, a passionate dog lover and entrepreneur, The Paw Print Bakery has quickly become a beloved destination for dog owners in Cork. The bakery specializes in natural, allergy-friendly treats designed to cater to dogs with sensitive tummies. All treats are handmade from high-quality ingredients, ensuring they are a safe and delicious option for all dogs.

In just one year, The Paw Print Bakery has made a significant impact in the local pet community. Over the past year, they’ve helped 45 dogs celebrate their birthdays and "gotcha days" with special birthday cakes and iced treats. Additionally, the bakery has partnered with Veterinary Specialist Ireland to include their nutritious treats in discharge packets for dogs recovering from surgery. They’ve also donated treats as raffle prizes to several worthy causes, including the CSPCA, Irish Guide Dogs, and the Animal Care Department at Cork ETB Douglas Street Campus.
The bakery’s commitment to quality and community support has not gone unnoticed, with its founder Lucy being featured on 96 FM with PJ Coogan to share the story behind the business.
Lucy, who started the bakery after seeing a gap in the market for a dog bakery in Cork, explained, "I felt a dog bakery was missing from Cork. There are similar businesses in Dublin and around the country but not here in Cork. Our dogs are family members too and deserve to be spoiled, especially for their birthday or gotcha day!”
Veterinary Specialist Cork has also praised the bakery’s work, with a spokesperson saying, "Veterinary Specialist Cork is proud to celebrate one year of Paw Print Bakery, our trusted provider of homemade, healthy pet treats. Over the past year, we’ve included their treats in our discharge packets and the response has been fantastic! Happy first anniversary, Paw Print Bakery—here’s to many more!”
The inspiration behind The Paw Print Bakery came from Lucy’s own dog, Dug, who struggled with weight and temperament issues. After noticing that regular dog treats caused Dug to gain weight and react negatively during walks, Lucy began experimenting with homemade alternatives. The improvement in Dug's health and behavior led to the creation of the bakery, with the goal of helping other dog owners facing similar challenges.
As the bakery celebrates its first year, Lucy hopes to continue offering healthy, delicious treats for dogs, while supporting the local community and giving back to animal welfare organizations.
