The Cork County Championship Draws in hurling and football, sponsored by the McCarthy Insurance Group and CO Op Superstores were made in Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Tuesday night.
Already fans can be wetting their lips as in the Premier A Junior Hurling Competition Tracton are in the same group as Ballygarvan. Also making up that quartet are the men from Milford and Argideen Rangers.
Incidentally, Ballygarvan and Tracton played each other in the league final in 2023, a game Ballygarvan won and a year Tracton fell from the county competition.
Tracton will not want to be heading back to the South East any time soon, and this game is set to be a cracker.
Speaking of crackers, Ballinhassig face a difficult assignment in the Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship as they face Ballincollig, Kilworth and Castlemartyr.
This group is going to be almost impossible to call, and Ballinhassig will have to hit the ground running if they want to progress in the 2025 championship.
Carrigaline and Ballymartle have been drawn against each other in the first group of the same competition.
Beaten finalists in 2024, Carrigaline will be hoping to go one step further in 2005, but don’t expect any favours from Ballymartle.
Joining the two Carrigdhoun sides in the group are Cloyne and Eire Og both of whom have points to prove from this year’s championship.
Courcey Rovers have been thrown a difficult assignment in the Senior A Hurling Competition, playing Blarney for a second year in a row, also in the group are Bride Rovers and Watergrasshill.
In the football championship, Kinsale face some stiff competition as they are lined up against Cobh, Na Piarsaigh and Cullen in the Premier Junior A Football Competition. It promises to provide a difficult assignment for the seasiders.
In the senior competition, Valley Rovers must overcome Newcestown, Castlehaven and Mallow if they want to make the knockout stages.
Having recently returned to the grade, Carrigaline will need to beat St Finbarrs, Clonakilty and Carbery Rangers.
Now, that will be a tall order and no one will be calling this group before a football is kicked.
Hold on to your hats, folks and get ready to buckle up for August 2025.
