Crosshaven AFC held its charity 7-saide tournament in Camden last Sunday raising €5567.74 for Marymount Hospice.

A total of 16 teams entered the competition. Each team was required to have one female and one over 40’s player on the pitch at all times. The traditional group stage followed by knock-outs style of competition was adapted, and saw The Drake Bar in Crosshaven take on Crosshaven AFC J1’s in the final.

Both teams met early on in the group stage that saw the Drake win 2-0, but the J1’s came looking for revenge in the final. It was a close encounter, both sides putting their bodies on the line in hope of being crowned champions and securing bragging rights. One goal was the difference as The Drake’s keeper Kealan Daly, launched the ball to striker Skinny Middleton, who got his head to it and put the ball in the back of the J1’s net.
