Carrigaline To Have New Community Text Alert Service

On Monday 4th November, A meeting between Muintir Na Tire and Community Gardai, was organised by Independent Carrigaline Councillor, Ben Dalton O’Sullivan with the aim of establishing a Community Text Alert service for Carrigaline.

The aim of any community text alert is to allow the Gardai to communicate messages about crime and crime prevention to registered mobile numbers quickly.

Speaking to the The Carrigdhoun Newspaper, Cllr Ben Dalton O’Sullivan said; ‘I’m delighted that the initial meeting went well, and we are now moving to get this set up within the next few weeks. Carrigaline doesn’t have a full time operational Garda station, and I believe we need to be proactive when it comes to preventing crime in the locality and that a community text alert is going to be key’

Cllr. Ben Dalton O’Sullivan has said that he has spoken to a number of other people across the country regarding community text alerts in their areas and the overwhelming feedback from them was that the text alert was extremely beneficial in helping to prevent crime and assist Gardai, With the size and population of Carrigaline, I believe that this is going to be a huge benefit to both residents and in assisting the Gardai in their work.

Anyone who would like more information or to assist in the roll out of the Carrigaline Community Alert is encouraged to contact Cllr Ben Dalton O’Sullivan on 089-4690352.
