Éanna McCarthy progressed through the ranks at Dolphin RFC, and now finds himself captaining Ireland's U20's against rivals England in the opening game of the U20s Six Nations Championship.
The forward is currently part of the Connacht academy.
Ireland face England in Virgin Media Park on Thursday, 30th of January in Virgin Media Park, throw in is at 7:45pm.
The occasion will mark McCarthys international debut in the green jersey after being selected to lead the charge by new Ireland head coach Neil Doak.
He is no stranger to the captains armband as he has previously captained the Munster U19s and was also skipper for Christian Brothers College in the Munster Schools Senior Cup in 2023.
He impressed during the Ireland Under-19s’ two clashes with France last Easter, scoring a try in both games, including burrowing over for the match winner in a 19-10 victory at St. Mary’s College RFC.
Following the game against England the Irish u20's will meet Scotland, Wales, France and Italy in order.
