A new Art Centre for Carrigaline!

A steering group of local like-minded people involved in the Community , the Arts and Commercial life have come together to explore and become actively involved in the provision of a Carrigaline based Centre for the Arts , Theatre and Entertainment generally. The Art Centre will contain a fully seated performance theatre, a creative space for visual arts and crafts, an all discipline dance studio, a comedy club, an art house cinema and will also be home to a new tourist centre and cafe.

Initially a series of consultations was carried out within the local Community and are now more than ever convinced that such a facility would greatly enhance the attractiveness of our area to both newcomers and old Carrigaline alike. All locally based Councillors are actively interested in the Project and see it as not only having a niche, but broad based appeal given the large range of potential users.

At this early stage, active discussions have taken place with key officials in County Hall, who are interested in emulating what has taken place in other key county towns such as, Macroom, Mallow, Bandon and Skibbereen. Sourcing a suitably located Site is priority number one, and is pivotal in what we see as a building block process.

Carrigaline Arts Theatre held its first fundraiser last Friday, the 28th of April, in Barry Collins Shopping Centre. Local musicians and dancers performed on the day giving the public a glimpse into what will be showcased at the new theatre.

To keep up to date on the progress of the new Carrigaline Arts Theatre and for more fundraising events, you can find them on facebook at ‘Carrigaline Arts Theatre Now’.
