Rebel supporters are expected to squeeze into Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Sunday as the hurlers face Tipperary in the league final.
It’s 1998 since the Rebels last raised the league trophy but supporters would do well to remember that a wounded Premier County could well cause an upset down the Pairc on Sunday.
Before we get the result on Sunday, Cork’s much maligned footballers take to the championship on Saturday as they face Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds at 6pm.
Carrigdhoun have two players lining out, with Carrigaline’s Brian O’Driscoll and Ballygarvan’s Sean Brady expected to continue their excellent league form.
It was a mixed week for the young guns of the county teams as the U20 footballers had an excellent result defeating Clare, with starts for Billy Curtain and Josh Woods from Valley Rovers and Carrigaline’s Kieran McCarthy also got a run out.
The U20 hurlers were second-best on Wednesday night against a determined Tipperary side, but Ballymartle’s Ryan Deasy and Eoin Guinane from Valley Rovers were not found wanting on a difficult night.
There is a full list of fixtures down for the weekend in both the Carrigdhoun and County Hurling Leagues, with two fixtures set to catch the eye: Valley Rovers face Belgooly in league action on Saturday at 4.30pm in Brinny in a repeat of last year’s SE Junior A Hurling league final.
On Sunday, Valleys are at home to Ballymartle at 11.30am in the Red FM HL Division Two.
Finally, Monday night, Cork travel to Tralee in the U20 Football Championship with a 7.30pm throw-in in what promises to be a testing encounter with the Kerry side.
